Hmmm... what are the "high" settings?

[link] here's mine I did a while ago, I consider the settings low

Depends on what program you used. Maya is the same program that was used to develope and animate Avatar. It's a very powerful program, each of those renders took over an hour to finish and I have a pretty beefy workstation.

Dunno then...
Main problem I see here is lack of smoothing groups - since it's a lowpoly model, they are required. Second problem is lighting

When they are fixed - it can be a really cool render. For reference, mine took 30 minutes and is way less messy...

Also, here [link] you can see result of full lighting with environment map

It's not that. it's that the entire thing was made using zmod and the way David models, he uses triangular poly's which is not ideal for programs such as maya. I can convert the entire thing to SubD and it looks somewhat better but still has a few problems that I couldn't fix because I don't have any modeling experience yet since I missed the modeling course last quarter. What program do you use?

3DSMax... And I work mostly in poly mode. I have a friend who also works in Maya - he uses polys as well (but he mostly models buildings and interiors)

It's not that polys is the problem, it's that triangular polys don't work well. It's much better to use quad polys.

I really like the detail in the hood of the car.

Nice! Is it on the whole car or only the hood?
